What first started as a hobby over five years ago… turned into something that I would now consider as a dream come true on my personal journey.
I’ve worked really hard to get to where I am now, but I wouldn’t do any of this without any of you guys, so I wanted to take this as a opportunity to say thank you to everyone that helped me grow and follow their beautiful stories with my camera and those who worked hard and supported me behind the scenes to make all this possible.
My journey with the camera originally started by capturing landscapes, horses, wildlife and chasing that beautiful golden hour that makes everything look so much warmer and beautiful. I was captivated by the amazing light during early mornings and late evenings which made me carry the camera with me every day. I am really grateful for that period of time as it taught me so much and pointed at the direction I want to take in life. Now, I understand how necessary and important that time was. It allowed me to discover what photography is all about… how to be comfortable with the camera, exposing for different lighting scenarios, composition, what to pay attention to and what’s important in the photograph.
Pretty soon after I showed some of my images online, I received messages from people asking if I would be willing to take photos for them which I considered to be a great compliment. I love interacting with people and those handful of sessions really opened the door to another dimension, which gave me an opportunity and great privilege to learn and grow more. From family walks, maternity sessions, birthday parties and various sports… I got a taste of how it is working with people. The sheer joy on people’s faces when they saw their photographs was absolutely priceless…and at that point I realised that that is what I want to do.
Since then I took mentorships, additional courses, poured thousands of hours to improve my skills and to become a better photographer…
It is certainly true that you become what you practice. More knowledge and skills led me to investing in studio equipment which I consider to be a total game changer. At that point, not only I was able to capture amazing photographs in natural lighting, I begun to learn how to take stunning portraits in controlled environment and create different moods which attracted even more people to want to work with me. I started photographing many different types of people in different concepts… simple portraiture, children, corporate, fantasy, beauty, modeling etc. I know the “Jack of all trades…” saying and that it’s better to focus on one thing to become “best”, but I’m really glad I took the path that I did as it uncovered the whole world of opportunities for me and taught me things that I like and don’t like. Without this process, I wouldn’t come across my love for pet portraiture that I do now…
